The Samwer brothers were born in Cologne, Germany. Growing up, they were inspired by the business aspects of the legal profession to which both their parents belonged. The brothers had always had the entrepreneurial drive to start a company and initially wanted to launch an airline business. Later they realized that it was too capital intensive and dropped the plan. The internet arrived in the 1990s and it struck them that there were endless possibilities which such a breakthrough could offer. Meanwhile, the brothers also completed their education. Marc, the eldest, trained to be a lawyer and got a degree in law.
